In Grateful Memory of David Knowles

Today, Dom Nicholls, Francis Dearnley and the The Daily Telegraph’s “Ukraine the Latest Podcast” team announced that their creator, producer, host, and friend, David Knowles, died of a sudden health problem this weekend.

I am devastated. I have quite literally listened to David every day for the last two years. His measured analysis, thoughtful insights, empathy and tender heart set him apart as a journalist and a man.

It is difficult to overstate how influential David was in introducing the world to Ukraine and its fight for freedom. David’s work and reporting on Ukraine changed hearts, saved lives, and forever etched his name on the history books of journalism and those who are among the defenders of freedom and liberty.

David’s presence and leadership in the journalism community in these last two and a half years of brutal war in Ukraine have been his finest hour.

David was only 32 years old.
